THE EU SUPPORTS STRENGTHENING VOLUNTEERISM IN GEORGIA
On June 6 of the current year, Adjara regional hub (Young Scientists Union "Intellect") organized the Volunteer Forum in hotel "Sheraton" with the support of the Education Development and Employment Center.
The forum aimed at supporting volunteer activities and its popularization in society; connecting volunteer seeker and volunteer wishing organizations; sharing the experiences of local, international and civil society organizations for forum participants and discussing the challenges and effective ways of solving them.
About 20 organizations (more than 100 guests): including local NGOs, self-governance, business and media representatives participated in the forum.
The Volunteer Forum was held within the framework of the project "Civil Society Development Initiative" (CSSIGE 2017-2020).
“Civil Society Development Initiative “ aims at improving civil society environment in Georgia, strengthening civil society organizations, increasing their accountability towards citizens and Strengthening connections with other actors.
"Civil Society Development Initiative" envisages implementation over 110 activities and giving 80 grants, within 45 months. At least 2500 civil society representatives will be involved in the implementation of Civil Society Development Initiative activities throughout Georgia.
The project is funded by the European Union (EU) and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project is implemented by a consortium consisting of four Georgian organizations: Civil Society Institute (CSI), Center for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG), Counseling and Training Center (CTC), Education Development and Employment Center (EDEC).
The project is being implemented throughout Georgia by 10 regional hubs under the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS).
Young Scientists Union "Intellect" participates in the project as the regional hub of the civil society organizations and implements activities covered by the project in Adjara region.
