The first LAG - active citizens’ local association, was established in Ajara region
Up to 300 residents of Riketi community in Khulo municipality to elect the members of Local Action Group (LAG). Dwellers of 5 villages – Danisparauli, Shuasopheli, Riketi, Didi Riketi and Bodzauri – participated in the elections. From each village one woman, one public authority, one young person aged 18-29, one businessperson and one other representative were elected to the LAG.
Together with the “INTELLECT” the LAG members will actively participate in the separate activities of the project, namely: conducting multi-field research and result analysis; formulation of development strategies; identification of priority strategies; preparation of programs for the priority strategies, implementation of the programs.
The Riketi LAG is formed within the “Rural Development Support Pilot Program”. The aim of the project is to strengthen the mechanisms and use of local participation in the rural development process to support the initiatives focusing on the improvement of rural conditions and implementation of effective, rural development strategies based on the European experience.
The project is implemented by the Young Scientists Union “INTELLECT” with the financial support of EU and UNDP.
