General meetings are being held in the communities
An initiative group formed in the community population held settlement general meetings with support of Young Scientists Union “Intellect” in Kobuleti Municipality, Khala and Tchakhati Communities.
During the meeting, the local inhabitants spoke about existing problems and outlined prioritized issues among them.
In the community of Khala, inhabitants identified village gasification to be the most important problem to be solved. The remaining problems were providing the village with uniform water supply system, regulation of the micro-bus line, and constructing inter-village roads and kindergarten.
Inhabitants of Tchakhati Community consider that inter-village roads are in very poor conditions and it’s necessary to solve this problem immediately. The population requires changing amortized vehicles, bridge constructions, gasification of the village, building bus stops and solving other local problems step by step. An initiative group will develop a budgetary program concerning the above mentioned problems and will submit it for discussion as a petition to the Sakrebulo of Kobuleti municipality.
Young Scientists Union “Intellect” is an initiator of the settlement general meeting in the scope of the project “Communities for Democratic Changes”. An objective of the project is to increase the level of population involvement in the self-governing process in the Kobuleti and Khelvachauri municipalities, to support the establishment of cooperation forms between the self-governing bodies and community population, and increase the quality of municipality budget focus on the needs and requirements of the community population.
In the scope of the project “Communities for Democratic Changes” 3 pilot communities were selected in Kobuleti and Khelvachauri municipalities. Young Scientists Union “Intellect” established initiative groups in these communities. These initiative groups will invite community inhabitants to attend the general meetings.
Settlement general meetings have already been held in the six selected pilot communities in two administrative units. Initiative groups established in the communities continue to work with the local self-governing bodies. In the nearest future settlement, general meetings will be held in every pilot community.
