The training “Sample practice of hygiene and producing, development and implementation of HACCP system” was conducted for business-operators acting in the region of Ajara. It was also conducted for the informational-consulting department of Ministry of Agriculture of Autonomous Republic of Ajara and employees of Agriculture Development Department. The training was conducted during three days and it was performed by the representative of IFC Natia Mgeladze.   Following issues were discussed on the training:

• National and International Legislation in the field of food safety;
• Necessary preliminary (prerequisite) programs - GHP&GMP;
• Preconditions of HACCP implementation;
• Revision of HACCP principles for the different sectors;
• Practical issues connected to the production exportation.

Director of the “Matchakhela” LTD., Tamaz Kakhidze, attended the training. ”Matchakhela” is producing honey and plans to export it to European Market. In case the HACCP standards will not be followed, our production will not be able to enter European Market. “Personally I went through the training about food safety in Israel and America. In Georgian I went through the training “Sample practice of hygiene and producing, development and implementation of HACCP system” which was organized by “Intellect”. The training was specifically focused on HACCP implementation. The training seemed very interesting to me and I will do my best to use the knowledge and experience I have received on the training in my production.” – declared Tamaz Kakhidze.

Soon dairy products of “Natural Products” LTD. will be established in Georgian Market from the region of Ajara. Training “Sample practice of hygiene and producing, development and implementation of HACCP system” was also attended by the director of the LTD – Arkad Kakhadze. He considered that “This training is rather important for the food safety in the process of product manufacturing. HACCP is the major system which must be followed in the producing. It will indicate the high quality and reliability of the company. In my opinion, such trainings must be carried out permanently in order to help producers to assimilate and practicable establish HACCP”.

“The training is very important for the employees of informational-consulting department of Ministry of Agriculture of Autonomous Republic of Ajara as we happen to have frequent meetings with farmers and representatives of agro business sector. We will share the knowledge and experience gained via the training “Sample practice of hygiene and producing, development and implementation of HACCP system” with them. I thank   Young Scientists Union “Intellect” which gave us an opportunity to participate in the training together with business-operators,” – announced employee of informational-consulting department of Ministry of Agriculture of Autonomous Republic of Ajara – Karlo Kekelidze.

After the training, participants were awarded by HACCP guidebook (which was prepared by IFC on the base of order of Young Scientists Union “Intellect”) and also by the computer program of records of the whole process.

“Sample practice of hygiene and producing, development and implementation of HACCP system” was conducted in the scope of the project “supporting HACCP and ISO standards in the region of Ajara”, its objective is to support Euro-integration processes in Georgia in the field of existed food and animal feed production standards with a help of harmonizing it with European standards.

Participants of the training were awarded by the particular certificates.

The project was implemented by the Young Scientists Union “Intellect” in Georgia with a support of Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania.

The partner of the project is the Ministry of Agriculture of autonomous Republic of Ajara.
