On June 14-th, a day earlier before Elections of Self-Government Bodies dated June 15, 2014 public discussion of Good Governance Declaration was organized by the initiative of Young Scientists Union “Intellect” in all five Keda, Khulo, Shukahevi, Khelvachauri and Kobuleti municipalities of Adjara region. Majoritarian candidates participating in Elections of self-government bodies were participating in the stated discussions. They approved and expressed their consent to all articles of Declaration and signed it publicly.  It is worth mentioning that no one refused to sign the declaration and Kobuleti municipality was distinguished by the great number of people attending the declaration signing.

 “Declaration of Good Governance” was elaborated by Young Scientists Union “”Intellect” in the limits of project “Communities for Democratic Elections”. Project aims to increase awareness level of community population of all five Keda, Khulo, Shuakhevi, Khelvachauri and Kobuleti Municipalities of Adjara region regarding to Essence of Self-governance, Rule of election of self-government bodies and functioning of it as well and  to contribute to institutional and management capacities enhancement of self-government bodies.

 “As I regard obligatory and statutory Articles in “Declaration of Good Governance” for execution, I agreed with pleasure to participate in discussion and Public Signing of the mentioned Declaration” – stated Independent Candidate Mr. Merab Abuladze. He is running for Vashlovani Community in Khulo Municipality

The idea on creation of “Declaration of Good Governance” was originated from 2010 before Elections of Self-government bodies.  The main thesis of Declaration are those basic postulates being the basis of European Charter on Local Self-Government and which should be usually implemented/performed by Self-government bodies.

Elaboration and public signing of “Declaration of Good Governance” could be good “Moral Stimulus” for future Sakrebulo Members to apply Principles given in the Declaration in case they are elected by the population.

In the aspect of content there Declaration is not different from Legislation on Self-government at all.  But general formulations have got more detailed face in created Declaration– States Mr. Levan Gobadze-Chairman of Board in Young Scientists Union “Intellect”

Young Scientists Union “Intellect” will provide Sakrebulo Monitoring after Elections of Self-government bodies and will reveal the best Sakrebulo member in all municipalities of Adjara region.
