Young Scientists Union "Intellect" is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that has been operating since 1998 in Batumi, Georgia.

Union "Intellect" is an association of specialists who are aware of the problems and challenges facing the country and society and desire to contribute to its democratic and economic development.

The organization implements its activities in five strategic areas:

1. Promotion of effective, responsible and transparent governance;

To achieve this goal, the organization carries out the following activities:

• Monitoring the activities of government institutions, including the activities of self-government bodies and public finances spending.

2. Supporting the institutional development of self-government bodies

To achieve this goal, the organization carries out the following activities:

• Improving the normative legal database of self-government bodies;
• Introducing a modern services access system for use by the public and businesses in self-government bodies;
• Increasing the Assembly members' competence level. The Assembly is the elected representative body of self-government entities.

3. Civic Education

To achieve this goal, the organization carries out the following activities:

• Increasing public awareness regarding to the issues of self-governance;
• Increasing public awareness regarding to electoral legislation and citizens' voting rights.

4. Economic Development

To achieve this goal, the organization carries out the following activities:

• Forming strategic plans for municipalities' socio-economic development;
• Preparing investment passports and marketing action plans for municipalities;
• Disseminating information to the public within Adjara about new agricultural technologies;
• Constructing educational-demonstrative complexes of modern technologies, devices and equipments, necessary for the production of agricultural products.

5. Supporting the development of civil society organizations

To achieve this goal the organization performs the following activities:

• Helping to increase the financial and organizational stability of newly formed organizations;
• Involving newly formed organizations in collaborative projects;
• Providing trainings for newly formed organizations.

Union “Intellect” actively cooperates with donor organizations. One of its biggest donor organizations is The Delegation of the European Union to Georgia.
